Building Schools Exhibition and Conference (BSEC) 2009
In a significant move designed to potentially enhance the sustainability standards of schools’ buildings across the region, Estidama, the sustainability regulatory programme managed by Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), recently participated at the first Building Schools Exhibition and Congress (BSEC) in the MENA region as a platinum sponsor. The event was organised by Abu Dhabi Education Council and Business Media Limited (UBM), at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) on 13th and 14th December 2009.
On the first day of the event, Gregory Acker, Senior Planning Manager at Abu Dhabi Urban Panning Council, addressed the conference on how Estidama envisages to ensure high-level sustainability of all types of buildings in Abu Dhabi, including schools, by integrating and balancing environmental, social, cultural and economic aspects of sustainability in the design process right from the beginning.
On the second day, Estidama held an award ceremony of the Estidama Fareej Design Contest, the competition that Estidama and Al Dar launched in June among students in UAE universities. The winning team and other contenders, together with deans and principals will also attend the ceremony. The exhibition also showcased the winning design.
